Interruption means that during the operation of the computer, when there are some unexpected situations that require the intervention of the host, the machine can automatically stop the running program and switch to the program that deals with the new situation, and return to the original suspended program to continue to run after the processing is completed.

                              Epson robot interrupt function and handling

Interrupt Function:

(1) Improve the power of the computer system. The operating speed of the processing machine in the computer system is much higher than the operating speed of the peripheral equipment. After the abort, the work between them can be harmonized.

(2) Maintain the system and operate normally. The programmer cannot directly interfere with and operate the machine, it is necessary to announce the request to the operating system through the suspension system, and the operating system will realize human intervention.

(3) Meet the requirements of real-time processing. In a real-time system, various monitoring and control devices randomly announce the abort request to the processor, and the processor responds and processes it at any time.

(4) Provide on-site means of problem handling. The processor is equipped with a component for detecting various problems and diagnosing errors, and once a fault or error is found, the request is immediately terminated, and the fault is recorded and isolated on the spot, providing the necessary basis for further processing.

Interrupt the process:

(1) The interrupt source announces the suspension of the request;

(2) Determine whether the processor agrees to the interruption and whether the interruption source is shielded;

(3) priority queuing;

(4) If the processor completes the instructions at that time or the instructions cannot be fulfilled at that time, the procedures at that time shall be terminated immediately, the breakpoint address and the current status of the processor shall be maintained, and the corresponding suspension service procedures shall be transferred;

(5) to perform interruption service procedures;

(6) Restore the maintained condition, perform the "interrupt back" instruction to return to the suspended program or transfer to other programs.

The first four operations in the above process are done by hardware, and the last two are done by software.
