The rectangular bus has good heat dissipation performance and is easy to fix and connect. But its skin effect is quite large. In order to reduce the skin effect, the cross-sectional area of a single busbar should not exceed 1250 square millimeters. When the working current exceeds the promised current of a single bus, 2 to 4 rectangular buses can be used. Rectangular conductors are generally only used for distribution lines with currents below 4000A.

The trough bus has good mechanical strength, large current carrying capacity and small skin effect coefficient. The power distribution device generally uses a trough busbar, and its current is between 4000A and 8000A.

The tubular bus has a small skin effect coefficient and high mechanical strength, so that water and wind can pass through the pipe. It is a high-current bus capable of passing currents above 8000A.

According to the raw materials, the bus bar is divided into copper bar, aluminum bar, and copper-clad aluminum bar.

Copper has the advantage of high electrical conductivity and high mechanical strength. In addition, it is corrosion-resistant and easy to process, making it a good conductive material. However, copper has a limited storage capacity and is widely used in other occupations. Therefore, in the application of electricity, except for some special skill requirements that require the use of copper busbars, aluminum replaces copper. Aluminum busbars are generally used in power occupations. Aluminum is second only to copper in terms of electrical conductivity. Aluminum is lightweight, low cost and high production efficiency. Overall, aluminum busbars are more economical than copper busbars.

Copper-clad aluminum busbar is a hot metal composite conductor material that has an aluminum core coated with copper. It has the advantages of both aluminum and copper, namely the superior electrical conductivity of aluminum and the chemical stability of copper. Copper-clad aluminum busbar has a broad development space in the electrical field and can be used for various electrical equipment. In particular, copper-clad aluminum busbars are the aspirational selection of busway. Because the power saved by copper-clad aluminum busbar is limited, its manufacturing cost has dropped significantly. What's more, it reduces the weight of the product and makes the installation easier.
