In the packaging, electronics and other industries, there has always been a need for stable detection of specific colors to meet the needs of positioning, counting, etc. This is where a color sensor is often used. If the installation space is small, a color sensor of the miniature size type is required.

Therefore, the miniature color sensor - CSM color sensor from SICK has been further upgraded with better performance and easier setup!

  01 Product Description
New Arrivals | Sick's new generation of CSM miniature color sensors
The new generation of CSM has three major improvements:

Improvement 1: Capacity development

• The market needs a miniature color sensor with a longer detection distance, and the CSM upgrade will be available with two sensing distances, 12.5mm and 15mm.

• For some complex applications, such as the inspection of cambered surfaces, larger inspection tolerances are required. As a result, the CSM Plus has a detection tolerance of ±4mm for a 15mm detection distance and ±3mm for a 12.5mm inspection distance.

Improvement 2: Performance optimization

• Improvements to the optical structure of the CSM with a more uniform spot and integrated RGB color to improve the detection performance of the sensor.

• Improved the teach-in button to make it more sensitive and easier to operate.

Improvement 3: Improve ease of use

• The new dynamic teach-in function can be used to capture more sampling points, which can be more stable and reliable for complex target materials.

• The teaching algorithm has also been improved to make it easier to use and easier to use. The CSM upgrade can be used to select the teach-in sensitivity by pressing and holding for a short and long press.

04 Applications

Packaging industry:

• Use CSM to detect the presence or absence of specific colors on the packaging for positioning/counting/whether the packaging material is printed or not, etc.

• Based on better tolerances, it can be stably inspected even when the packaging material is uneven.

  Filling industry:

• In general, filling machines are used for different raw material production. CSM inspects the color of the cap. When the color of the cap does not match, it is rejected to ensure its consistency.

• Based on better tolerance and teach-in mode, cap color can be stably detected.

  Electronics Industry:

• Electronics often needs to process the workpiece multiple times, and these workpieces need to be processed accordingly when they are placed in different fixtures.

• CSM inspects color-coded blocks on the workpiece/fixture to determine the next step.

• Based on better tolerances and miniature size, CSM can be easily embedded into the device.
