The miniaturization, integration, and intelligence of sensors are the main trends of industrial development, and the increasing demand for small and integrated smart chips in industrial scenarios also provides better means for equipment integration and intelligence.
Sick is also deeply aware of the great value of small size in a large number of industrial scenes. In recent years, we have launched the Nano Scan series of security scanners with a more pronounced body shape, the Visionary T Mini series of industrial vision solutions, and our protagonist today: the TMS/TMM22 series inclination sensors.
One of the distinguishing features of the TMx22 series is that it is smaller than similar sensors on the market, measuring only 40 x 30 x 10mm. What does such volume data represent, you can intuitively feel it through the volume comparison of TMM22 below.
1. Working principle
MEMS principle: The central area element (blue part) of the sensor is shifted by acceleration, causing the capacitance between the electrodes to change.
By identifying these parameter changes, the sensor obtains the current direction of acceleration, and obtains the current angle information of the sensor based on the direction of gravity.
2. Performance parameters
Resolution: ≤ 0.015°
Accuracy: 0.25°
Analog interface: 0... 10V/4-20MA
Degree of protection: IP66, IP68 and IP69K
Size: 40x30x10mm, 3*M3 mounting holes
Measuring range: 360° (single axis) or up to ±90° (dual axis)
Connection: M12 connector cable/loose wire
Preset function: 0 digits can be manually calibrated
Status LED light: 2*Sensor status feedback light
3. Customers benefit
The volume is only 40 x 30 x 10mm ⇨ It can be installed in small and cramped environments
The degree of protection is up to IP69K ⇨ The electronic device is encapsulated in dustproof and waterproof, and the housing is robust
MEMS technology ⇨ No mechanical wear during the measurement process, long service life, maintenance-free, and resistant to vibrations and shocks
Full encapsulation pouring process ⇨ Dustproof and waterproof sealing treatment, humid environment or high-pressure jet can also be stably detected
TMS single-axis 360°/TMM dual-axis ± 90° high-precision measurement ⇨ Correct 1D or 2D inclination measurement with a measurement error of less than 0.25°
Analog output signal ⇨ Adopt a common interface to achieve easier interconnection with on-site application scenarios, and ensure a high degree of adaptability to different scenarios
Built-in 3 mounting holes ⇨ Enables the sensor to be mounted securely and with a high fit for higher quality measurements
By presetting the 0-digit function ⇨ any position to zero, it can be put into operation quickly
Visualized LED light ⇨ Real-time signal feedback for easy access to continuous sensor status information
4. Scope of application
Printing and dyeing equipment:
The tension pendulum changes its position as the fabric moves and is affected by the tension of the fabric. The inclination sensor is used to detect the rotation angle of the swing frame, and the angle control of the swing frame is combined with the frequency conversion motor to maintain its position at the midpoint of the range of inclination range, otherwise the tilt angle of the swing frame will cause poor product printing and dyeing or paper breakage.
Three-dimensional warehouse shelf tilt monitoring:
Detect shelf tilt angles. Real-time monitoring of whether there is a deviation in the verticality of the shelf column to reduce the incidence of accidents. Instead of manual methods, the hammer is used for inspection to simply judge the tilt degree of the shelf, and the TMx22 can achieve high-efficiency and high-precision detection, and real-time monitoring and feedback angle information.
Applications of inclination sensors in construction machinery:
In order to achieve automatic control, the excavator needs to measure the attitude of the vehicle body itself and the actuator to realize the three-dimensional attitude intelligent control of the excavator, in other construction machinery vehicles, the inclination sensor needs to make the angle range of the equipment within the safety range, if it exceeds the range, it will alarm to prevent overload dumping.
Measuring the tilt angle of the fork/body:
The angle of the forklift is controlled to change within 20°, so that the real-time angle of the boom of the forklift and the roll angle of the body are under the control of the operator to avoid safety accidents.
Measuring the angle of the photovoltaic panel:
The output signal of the solar automatic tracking system drives the motor to realize real-time tracking of the sun, so that the surface of the light panel is perpendicular to the sun's rays, and the solar energy is received to a greater extent. Improve the tracking efficiency, realize automatic angle correction, and effectively solve the problem that the accumulated error will increase with time.

Sick Sensors – What are the Common Types of Proximity Sensors?
Capacitance – As the name suggests, these sensors work by recording changes in capacitance, which is a function of charge and voltage between two surfaces with an air gap or other material known as the dielectric constant. When the object to be measured enters the sensor field, it has an impact on the medium.
