Radar technology is ubiquitous in our lives, from the surveillance radar on the car to the safety radar on the industry, the purpose is to make the dangerous equipment have the ability to detect the surrounding moving objects, and effectively remind and brake when the moving objects are found to be approaching. Pilz safety radar has been widely used in the industrial field, can operate stably in harsh environments, and replace traditional safety optoelectronic protection equipment, such as outdoor large gantry crane equipment, mining equipment, raw meat processing plants, etc.

Now, Pilz has launched the second generation of the safety radar system, which has been optimized and added with more functions on the basis of the original characteristics. Let's find out now.

The protection area of the first generation of safety radar can only be set to narrow area (50°) and wide area (110°), and the detection area is fixed, which cannot be flexibly set for complex application environments; The second-generation safety radar can be adjusted by 10-100° of the protection area, and can be reasonably configured according to the actual environmental characteristics. The first-generation safety radar can only have 2 detection areas, and the front area cannot be adjusted, while the second-generation safety radar can independently set the range of 4 detection areas and give the status signal of the 4 detection areas.

For the anti-occlusion monitoring, the distance setting is added, and the fixed obstruction in the monitoring area can be optimized according to the actual needs, so as to avoid choosing to turn off the overall function due to the inability of the installation position to avoid the occlusion.

The most important upgrade is the addition of PN communication function with Profisafe protocol, which makes the new safety radar system have more powerful communication capabilities, which can exchange data between radar sensors, radar control systems, and safety output signal status through the safe communication protocol and the main control system. The addition of this function reduces the complex wiring and enriches the collection information of the main control system, thus making the application and diagnosis more convenient.
