In the planning of industrial robot drive system, the demand focuses on four aspects: control mode, operating environment requirements, cost performance and machine operation speed, and the selection principles of common robots are as follows.

1. The program control robot with limited point control for material handling (including loading and unloading) and stamping, and the hydraulic driving system can be selected for low-speed and heavy loads; Electric drive system is available for medium loads; Pneumatic drive system is available for light load and high speed. The stamping robot mostly uses the pneumatic drive system.

In spot welding, arc welding and spraying robots, if it is only necessary to do any point and continuous trajectory control function, it is necessary to use electro-hydraulic or electric servo drive system. If the control accuracy is high, the electric servo drive system is mostly selected; Heavy load handling and explosion-proof spraying robots are controlled by electro-hydraulic servo.

2. Spraying robots, because the working environment requires explosion-proof, mostly choose electro-hydraulic servo drive system and AC electric servo drive system with substantial safety explosion-proof.

Special robots such as underwater robots, nuclear industry robots, space robots, robots in flammable and explosive environments, and robots working in radioactive environments are more stable to choose AC servo drives.

3. For the installation robot with high requirements for point repeatability and running speed (≤4.5m/s), AC, DC or stepper motor servo system can be selected; If the speed and accuracy are higher, the DC servo drive system is selected.
