Received an order from Contact Energy Co., Ltd. in New Zealand for the Auhara geothermal power plant project
In February 2021, we received an order from Sumitomo Corporation, the general contractor of New Zealand Contact Energy Limited, for a set of power generation equipment for the Taghara geothermal power plant.
The Taghara geothermal power plant was built in the Taupo region, about 280km south of Auckland.
The output of the power generation end is about 160MW, and the three-stage flash evaporation method is adopted.
The equipment will surpass the approximately 140MW delivered by Fuji Electric to the Nga Awa Purua geothermal power plant in 2010, which was the largest single unit capacity in the world at the time, and become the world's largest single unit capacity.
So far, Fuji Electric has participated in the construction of four geothermal power plants in New Zealand, of which the Auhara geothermal power plant is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
When completed, it will contribute to the equivalent of 450MW of geothermal development, accounting for about 40% of the country's geothermal power plant capacity.

Fuji Electric's GPD Ooro Solar Power Plant, which was contracted under the EPC model, was delivered to the power generation company in May 2020, two months shorter than the contract delivery date (31 months) with the company, and is currently running smoothly.
The power plant is located on an industrial site about 59 hectares west of Atsugishi-cho, Hokkaido, and is equipped with approximately 31.7 MW of solar panels, a PCS rated at 20 MW for AC connections, and a lithium-ion battery of approximately 8.7 MWh.
The use of a system that calms output fluctuations by charging and discharging the battery satisfies the technical requirements of Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Ltd. regarding output fluctuations (output change rate of less than 1%/minute).
The industrial site, which is almost entirely mountainous, was built by cutting about 1 million cubic meters using heavy machinery, which was the first in Japan.
In addition, Fuji Electric has adopted a single-leg pile-type solar panel mount for the first time, which has reduced overall costs.

Non-emergency inspections of steam turbines and generators, which are the main equipment for thermal and geothermal power generation equipment, tend to be postponed during the pandemic.
On the other hand, there is no change in the customer's request for a Technical Field Advisor (TFA) to handle necessary issues or to make important updates and inspections.
Fuji Electric has developed a remote TFA service that provides technical guidance over the Internet. This service allows you to check the live video of the site at Fuji Electric's factory via the Internet, and provides the same technical guidance as when you are dispatched to the site.
