First of all, we need to understand a truth, that is, many times the good and bad of things are relative. The variable frequency drive (VFD) is used as a power source to drive the operation of the motor, and its fundamental role is to regulate the speed. If the wiring is normal, the parameters are reasonable, and the load is fine, if the motor speed can be controlled according to the requirements, and the fluctuation error is less than the equipment requirements, then you can simply judge the VFD.
The quality of a VFD is difficult to quickly determine from the outside. The easiest way to tell if a VFD is good or bad is to perform a power-on test. For testing, it is best to connect a motor with less power than the VFD's rated power at the output end of the VFD, so that you can know how good the internal software is. In particular, the high torque at low frequency is a direct and useful method, after changing the parameters, test the VFD algorithm, and modulate the VFD within 5HZ to see whether the torque of the load motor is weakened and whether the motor speed is not. It is to investigate whether the output waveform of the VFD is perfect, and frequently start and stop in a short period of time to see the peak current and voltage. These methods can test the performance of VFD software.
Before powering on, use the 1kω file of the multimeter to check the input side R, S, and T; The resistance values of U, V, and W on the output side determine whether the VFD can be powered on or not.
First disconnect the incoming lines R, S, T and the outgoing ∨, V, W of the VFD, and then measure whether the rectifier circuit and inverter circuit are normal.
1. Test the rectifier circuit.
Adjust the multimeter to the resistance X1KΩ, connect the red meter pen to the P terminal, and connect the black meter pen to the R, S, and T terminals in order. There should be tens of thousands of ohms of resistance values, which are essentially the same. The black probe is connected to the P terminus, and the red probe is connected to R, S, and T in turn, and the resistance value is close to infinity. Connect the red probe to the N terminal, repeat the above steps, and you should get the same result. If the red probe is connected to the P terminal, the resistance is unbalanced in three phases or the resistance is infinite, and the circuit can be judged to be faulty, and the rectifier bridge is faulty. See diagram below.
2. Detect the inverter circuit.
The red probe is connected to the P terminal, and the black probe is connected to U, V, and W in turn, and there should be a resistance value of tens of thousands of ohms, and the resistance value of each phase is fundamentally the same. Connect the black probe to the P terminal, and the red probe to U, V, and W in sequence, with the resistance values close to infinity. Connect the black probe to the N terminal and repeat the above process to get the same result, otherwise the inverter module can be determined.
Only when the above tests are normal, can the power-on test be performed. Before and after power-on, identify the fault according to the content of the problem.
And the reason. See if there are any normal results.
Be especially careful throughout the power-up test process. Once there is smoke, abnormal noise or peculiar smell, the input power supply is immediately blocked, and the fault code is checked on the VFD display panel.
If everything is normal, you can press the set button on the panel to perform panel operation or terminal control, frequency setting, acceleration and deceleration setting, etc.
In order to quickly determine whether the VFD used at the time was suitable for the requirements. It is still best to check the product instruction manual of the corresponding inverter brand.
