Have you encountered any of the pain points of these safety relay applications?
Since the invention of the first emergency stop safety relay by Pilz in 1987, after twenty or thirty years of development, the current safety relay market can be described as a hundred flowers blooming and a hundred schools of thought contending.
Although there are many safety relay products to choose from, there are more or less the following pain points in practical applications:
1. The logical relationship between multiple safety functions must be realized by hard wiring between different safety relays, which is cumbersome in design and requires more man-hours in installation.
2. The fault fault diagnosis information is not clear, and the LED indicators on the safety relay body are not rich enough, resulting in the failure information given to the outside when the safety circuit fails.
3. There are too many spare parts in the warehouse, and if there are multiple different safety functions involved in the project, it is necessary to purchase multiple different types of safety relays.
4. For the sake of flexibility and other factors, we prefer to use modular safety relays, but we are troubled by the editing of safety programs.
5. No experience in safety loop design to ensure that your design meets safety requirements.
It has always been imitated, never surpassed
As an automation technology company, Pilz is committed to driving product change through technological innovation, and strives to help users solve problems encountered in practical applications through innovative products. As the inventor of the safety relay, Pilz's new safety relays never disappoint.
In 2021, Pilz launched a newly-designed, program-free modular safety relay – myPNOZ. The new hardware architecture, the user's selection platform and the back-end production platform bring users a new experience and subvert the user's perception of a single safety relay.
New hardware architecture
The modular and compact design is not only flexible but also saves space in the electrical cabinet.
The myPNOZ system consists of two parts, a header module and an extension module, which supports a two-channel global safety function that, once triggered, cuts off all safety output points (usually this function is used as a global E-STOP). After the head module, up to 8 safety I/O modules can be expanded according to the application requirements. The signal transmission between the modules is realized by the bridge connector connection at the bottom, which is firm and reliable and not easy to be disassembled by mistake. The logical relationship between the safety functions is determined by the order in which they are installed and the module type.
The myPNOZ module is equipped with a newly designed function knob to set the reset mode of the safety function and the delay time of the safety output. LEDs with diagnostic functions are integrated into each module, which, in conjunction with the operator's manual, quickly pinpoint faults in the safety loop.
My model is my way
myPNOZ has its own user selection platform, myPNOZ creator, which allows users to express their required safety logic functions in a graphical way, and the platform automatically generates the corresponding modular myPNOZ system solution, which is very easy to operate, even with little programming experience.
The automatically generated solution will contain the corresponding model, part number and quantity of the hardware, myPNOZ creator will also generate a system order number (Type Code) for the solution, which is convenient for users to place subsequent orders and purchases, and the system order number can also restore its own configuration data on the myPNOZ creator platform. In addition, the myPNOZ creator platform generates wiring diagrams, safe shutdown matrices, etc., for users to refer to when drawing electrical schematics.
Plug and play is not a dream
After placing an order via the myPNOZ creator platform, the local Pilz branch will use a professional tooling station to assemble the myPNOZ system, set the module knobs and complete the corresponding functional tests, and transport it to the customer in a complete package after confirming that it is correct. Once the user receives the goods, they only need to unpack and install the complete myPNOZ system on the DIN rail, saving time and effort.
This kind of assembled module can effectively reduce the number of spare parts, which is also very beneficial for inventory management.
Powerful and reliable
In addition to the functional advantages, the supply cycle of myPNOZ is very reliable at a time when product supply is generally tight, and it has won the favor of more and more users:
1. Ability to monitor common safety functions up to PL e (EN ISO 13849-1) and SIL CL 3 (IEC 62061) for low to medium complexity applications with 2 to 16 safety input functions.
2. Modular safety relays that are easy to operate and flexible, and there can be a logical relationship between safety functions.
3. The customer receives the product that has been assembled, set up and tested, and is ready for installation and use.
The launch of myPNOZ has injected fresh vitality into the safety relay market, and this product that can improve the user experience will also lead the new trend of safety relay product development, and we are happy to contribute to the improvement of the level of the machinery safety industry!

Peel magnetic relays - what are the connection methods of relays?
1. 3-pin relay wiring
The common 3-pin relay is the car horn relay.
No. 1 is the contact terminal, which connects the load;
No. 2 is the common terminal between the contact and the coil, which is connected to the power supply;
No. 3 is the coil terminal, which connects the button switch (such as the horn on the steering wheel).

Peel magnetic relays – testing of relays
(1) Measure the resistance of the contact: use the resistance of the multimeter to measure the resistance of the normally closed contact and the moving point, and the resistance value should be 0; The resistance between the normally open contact and the moving point is infinite. From this, it is possible to distinguish which is a normally closed contact and which is normally open.
(2) Coil resistance: multimeter R...

Peel Magnetic Relays – Difference Between Voltage Relays and Current Relays
1. The difference between the structure of current relay and voltage relay
The main thing is that the coils are different.
The coil of the current relay is connected in series with the load to reflect the load current, so its coil turns are small and the wire is thick, so that the voltage drop when passing through the current is very small, and it will not affect the load circuit.
