The IRB robot is a strict product of the Sweden robot manufacturer ABB, and IRB refers to the ABB standard series of robots. IRB robots are commonly used for welding, painting, handling and cutting. Commonly used models are: IRB 1400, IRB 2400, IRB 4400, IRB 6400. Its model number is explained below:
IRB stands for ABB Robotics.
The first digit (1, 2, 4, 6) refers to the size of the robot.
The second digit (4) refers to belonging to the S4 or S4C system.
Regardless of the model, the robot control part is basically the same.
IR 1400: Smaller load load, maximum load capacity of 5 kg, commonly used for welding.
IRB 2400: Smaller load capacity, maximum load capacity of 7 kg, commonly used for welding.
IRB 4400: Large load capacity up to 60 kg is often used for handling or extensive welding.
IRB 6400: Large load capacity up to 200 kg, commonly used for handling or extensive welding.

ABB robots are made up of two parts: a manipulator and a controller. The operator operates the robot via the controller.
The manipulator is a space 6-bar open-chain mechanism composed of six rotating shafts, which can theoretically reach any point within the range of motion, the table lists the rotation range of each axis, the figure shows the working space of the robotic arm, and the figure shows the name and movement mode of the six motion axes. Each shaft is equipped with a gearbox, and the manipulator movement accuracy can reach 0.05mm - 0.2mm. All six shafts are driven by AC servo motors. The robot is equipped with a serial measuring board (SMB), which replaces the analog quantity of the encoder with a digital quantity
Powered by Liu Jie's rechargeable nickel-chromium battery, when the robot is shut down, the current encoder position of the robot is stored through the battery, and it needs to be replaced in time once the battery is insufficient.
The controller system is mainly composed of a main computer board, a robot computer board, a fast hard disk, a network communication computer, a teach pendant, a drive unit, a communication unit and a power version. The transformer, main computer, axis computer, drive board, serial port measurement and encoder form a servo drive system, which digitally adjusts the position, speed and motor current, and synchronizes the motor control. The robot system continuously receives the new data position of the robot from the serial measuring board, inputs it into the position adjuster, compares and amplifies it with the previous position data, and outputs the new position and speed control.
