Proximity sensors are divided according to their working principle:

High-frequency oscillation type, capacitive type, induction bridge type, permanent magnet type, Hall effect type, etc.

According to the principle of operation, it can be divided into three categories:

High-frequency oscillation type using electromagnetic induction, magnetic type using magnets, and capacitive type using capacitance changes.

According to the detection method:

General Purpose: Mainly Detects Ferrous Metals (Iron)

All metal types: Detect any metal at the same detection distance.

Non-ferrous metal type: mainly detects non-ferrous metals such as aluminum

According to the type of structure:

1. Two-wire proximity sensor:

The two-wire proximity sensor is easy to install and easy to wiring; It is widely used, but it has the disadvantages of large residual voltage and leakage current.

2. DC three-wire type:

The output type of DC three-wire proximity sensor has NPN and PNP, and most of the products in Japan in the 70s are NPN output, and there are two output types of NPN and PNP in Western European countries. PNP output proximity sensor is generally used in PLC or computer as a control instruction, NPN output proximity sensor is used to control DC relays, and its output form should be selected according to the characteristics of the control circuit in practical applications.
