The expected peak current during a transient after the circuit is turned on.
Note: This theory assumes that the current is connected by an ideal switching apparatus, i.e., the impedance instantaneously changes from infinity to zero, and for circuits with several current paths, such as multiphase circuits, it further assumes that the poles are connected to the current together, or even only one pole of the current.
7. Prospective symmetrical current (of an a.c.circuit)
The expected current at the moment when the transient disappears after the AC circuit is turned on.
Note: 1. For multiphase circuits, it is expected that the symmetrical current only fits the non-transient periodic state at one pole at a time.
2. The expected symmetrical current is expressed in terms of rms (r.m.s).
8. Maximum Prospective Peak Current (of an A/C.Circuit)
When the current initiation occurs the expected current spike at the moment that results in the maximum possible value.
Note: For multi-pole appliances in multiphase circuits, the maximum expected peak current is considered only for one pole.
9. Prospective making current (of a pole of a switching device)
The expected current that will occur when switched on under regular conditions.
Note: The conditions of the rule may be related to the method by which the current is expected to occur, such as the use of an ideal switching appliance; or related to the moment of expected current in which it occurs, such as the moment in an AC circuit that results in the maximum expected current; or in relation to the maximum rate of rise, these conditions are specified in the relevant product specifications.
10. Prospective breaking current (of a pole of a switching device or fuse)
Corresponds to the expected current confirmed at the beginning of the breaking process.
Note: The rules regarding the moment of the breaking process should be given in the relevant product specification. In the case of mechanical switching appliances and fuses, arcing usually occurs at the moment of the breaking process.
