Welding robots are industrial robots engaged in welding, cutting and spraying. The welding robot mainly includes two parts: the robot and the welding equipment. The robot consists of a robot body and a control cabinet (hardware and software). The welding equipment, taking arc welding and spot welding as examples, is composed of welding power supply, (including its control system), wire feeder (arc welding), welding gun (pliers) and other parts. For intelligent robots, there should also be a sensing system, such as laser or camera sensors and their control equipment.

The selection of robots for welding, only a robot is not enough, but also must be equipped with peripheral equipment, the conventional arc welding robot system consists of the following 5 parts:

1. The robot body is generally a 6-axis articulated manipulator driven by a servo motor, which is composed of a drive, a transmission organization, a robotic arm, a joint and an internal sensor. Its task is to precisely ensure the orientation, posture and trajectory required by the end of the manipulator (Hummer).

2. The robot control cabinet is the nerve center of the robot system, including computer hardware, software and some special circuits, which is responsible for processing all the information in the working process of the robot and controlling all its actions.

3. Welding power supply system, including welding power supply, special welding gun, etc.

4. Welding sensors and system safety maintenance equipment.

5. Welding fixtures.

The welding robots produced in various countries around the world are basically joint robots, and most of them have 6 axes. In the meantime, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd axes can send the end things to different spatial orientations, while the 4, 5, and 6 axes can handle the different requirements of the east-west pose.
