The Saihanba National Ice Training Center in Chengde, Hebei Province was officially completed and started training, which will provide venue support for ice sports athletes to prepare and practice. The practice center is the first sub-plateau "four-in-one" carbon dioxide all-ice speed skating road project in Asia to be completed. The total ice surface area of the center is 13,338 square meters, and the entire ice surface is planned with a piece of ice, integrating four ice sports: 400-meter speed skating road, short track speed skating, figure skating, and curling.
The refrigeration and ice-making project of the venue was completed by Panasonic Chiller System (Dalian) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Panasonic Chiller), which uses carbon dioxide environmental protection ice-making technology throughout the whole process, and is an inductive ice sports venue with the concept of environmental protection.
This is also the second time that Panasonic has helped the construction of the ice rink after the "Ice Cube" project in 2019.
For ice sports, the ice surface temperature requirements are different for each event. As a venue integrating speed skating, short track speed skating, figure skating, and curling, the Saihanba National Ice Practice Center needs to provide practice and preparation places for athletes in different sports, so the control of ice surface temperature is particularly important.
In order to ensure that the ice surface temperature requirements of each function are different but used together, Panasonic cooler has put a lot of effort into precise ice surface temperature control and hardness.
Li Shuang, director of the ice and snow planning department of Panasonic chiller, said that in order to complete the accurate control of the temperature of the whole ice surface, they first used BIM (Building Information Modeling) and CFD skills to imitate and test the entire refrigeration system, and together they selected advanced skills to accurately calculate and correct the temperature and refrigerant flow rate of the ice straight, big and small curves to ensure uniform temperature. Then, through the temperature control technology of the central cooling zone, the huge refrigeration system is modularized, and the IOT long-distance online digital control system independently developed by Panasonic is used to finally reduce the temperature uniformity of the ice surface from 1-2 °C to 0.5 °C of the traditional ice-making technology. It completes the four ice functions of the whole ice surface, and the temperature is stable and accurate. Li Shuang said.
Due to the relatively large ice surface area of the venue, the refrigeration pipeline of the ice surface of the all-ice speed skating road alone is 150,000 meters long, and it is permanently buried in concrete.
Panasonic chiller has conducted in-depth research and many imitation experiments on the cold pipe data, and selected high-pressure stainless steel coil technology, with a single pipe up to 120 meters long, reducing the number of welds and the risk of leakage by 73%.
In addition, this project selects Panasonic inverter open screw unit, which has a large cooling capacity and high efficiency, and provides sufficient refrigeration capacity to the ice surface during the initial freezing period to ensure the quality of frozen ice. Together with this, for this project, Panasonic Chiller has always adhered to the concept of energy-saving and environmental protection planning, and after recovering the waste heat of the refrigeration system, the ice concrete anti-freezing system and the ice melting system are heated, which greatly saves the consumption of power and distinguishes itself from the concept of green energy saving.
On December 29, 2020, the opening ceremony of the Saihanba National Ice Practice Center in Chengde, Hebei Province was held. After that, the members of the Hebei Provincial Speed Skating Team took to the ice for their first practice.
Located at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level, the practice center, as a sub-plateau venue, will provide a high-quality practice venue guarantee for Chinese athletes to achieve excellent results in the upcoming competition, and Panasonic will continue to serve the venue and help ice sports.
