AS ANNOUNCED ON MARCH 15, 2019, THE POWER-ASSISTED SUIT "ATOUN MODEL Y" HAS BEEN OFFERED TO THE TOKYO 2020 OLYMPICS TO HELP REDUCE THE PRESSURE ON THE WEARER'S LOWER BACK WHEN LOADING AND UNLOADING ATHLETES' LUGGAGE AND EQUIPMENT. In addition, there are three other Panasonic robots that operate behind the scenes. A robot vacuum cleaner development model actively cleans the floor at one of the Tokyo 2020 venues, a power-assisted suit "ATOUN HIMICO" assists volunteers and staff in long-term walking during the Olympic Games, and an "ATOUN MODEL Y + kote" "ATOUN MODEL Y" with an arm to support the transportation of sports equipment.
First and foremost, the robot vacuum cleaner for future development has been cleaning the floor in the common areas of the Main Press Center (MPC) since July 19 and will fulfill its mission until September 5, 2021. Equipped with cameras and LiDAR*1, the robot actively and accurately recognizes people, walls, and obstacles around it, and safely cleans the floor from one place to another without having to prepare the area in advance. They help reduce the burden on cleaning staff during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition, the Panasonic nanoe™X*2 skill used in the dust box inhibits bacteria*3 and creates a clean and comfortable environment for people in the MPC.
In addition, the "ATOUN HIMICO" is equipped with sensors that detect walking movements and assist them in lifting and lowering their legs when walking inward, and the motor at the waist and the support for both knees are connected by wires to help reduce the fatigue of race staff.
