Industrial Ethernet is currently a more ubiquitous communication specification, which can be connected to each control layer in a simple way to ensure good communication between localized field devices and control systems. Weidmüller presents the new Advanced Line switches, which guarantee a future-proof infrastructure with a high level of availability, reliability and transparency. Advanced Line Managed Switches can improve network availability through redundancy and manipulation mechanisms, and together provide a variety of diagnosis and selection plans for a chaotic automated network. They support popular protocols including STP/RSTP and SNMP and can be intuitively equipped via a browser-compatible web interface. These switches are also available in Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Active Ethernet, and are available in versions with 5 to 24 ports for high sensitivity. Their large operating temperature scale allows them to be used in harsh operating environments, such as production equipment or outdoor settings. The Advanced Line product line includes both comprehensive switches for cluttered applications, such as for port monitoring, and lean and economical switches for trivial tasks within the network.
Thanks to the fast redundancy mechanism, the operation is very reliable
In today's Industrial Ethernet networks, ring redundancy specifications are chosen. This ring redundancy approach improves the availability of the automation network, reduces downtime, and optimizes equipment and operational capabilities within the network. With Weidmüller's Advanced Line switches, it is possible to combine ring redundancy and linear redundancy to link several Ethernet switches to each other in a single line network. By equipping the head switch and end switch on the outside of the link, the devices on both sides can be integrated into the network. With ring and linear redundancy, managers are able to create a very sensitive redundant topology for each network segment. In the case of a failure of one of the Weidmüller Advanced Line switches, a backup path is created, so that in an equipment environment with no more than 250 switches, it only takes 30 milliseconds to restore the normal function of the network. This will improve the availability of the network and reduce the downtime of equipment that would lead to high costs.
Advanced Line switches support a wide range of common protocols, such as STP, RSTP or SNMP, making it easy to integrate these protocols into different automation environments. With a simple, intuitive user interface, Advanced Line switches are network-equipped. On this basis, users can directly access all the status information and operating functions of the switch in their familiar software environment.
Weidmüller also supplied an external backup and rehabilitation module, which guarantees smooth operation even in the event of an error. This module backs up the equipment information and ensures that the equipment can be re-equipped directly if necessary. As a result, equipment information can be backed up without a network or computer. This means that replacement equipment can be used directly at the operating site to rehabilitate the operation.
Available in Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, PoE (Active Ethernet, for remote power supply to peripherals), and available in versions with 5 to 24 ports, these switches are extremely sensitive and perfectly equipped for every application. All Ethernet switches come with an industrial IP30 metal enclosure with an integrated clip-on base for easy mounting on the terminal trail (TS35). In addition to being easy to install, the switch has a large temperature scale and can be used in environments from -40°C to +75°C, making it ideal for both production equipment and outdoor work.

Different types of switches are equipped with a different number of combinable RJ45 interfaces or optical fiber interfaces, which is convenient for users to use various media and greatly expand the coverage distance. From multi-mode to single-mode, from 500 meters to 20 kilometers, it can connect related equipment with various SFP slots in various scenarios, so as to sensitively meet application needs. Thanks to the modular port assembly, the transceiver only needs to be inserted during operation. In the future, you will be able to adjust your skills as needed.
Advanced Line switches are available in "Full-Service" and "Streamline" versions. The all-round switch is ideal for busy networks and meets the professional needs for redundancy, secure data transmission, or per-port monitoring. Streamlined switches are a more cost-effective alternative to simple network tasks that do not require a transactional process at all.
