Common faults and countermeasures of power inverters

1. OC failure

Like other inverters, overcurrent alarm is also a common fault of power inverter, in addition to the reasons for parameter settings such as acceleration and deceleration time, there are mainly the following possibilities in the hardware: the damage of the high-power module may cause OC alarm, the low-power economical inverter uses the PIM module of TYCO company, the general-purpose medium-power inverter uses the PIM module produced by Fuji and the IGBT module of Mitsubishi company, and the high-power inverter uses the IGBT module of Siemens. The damage of high-power modules can be caused by the following reasons:

                               Common faults and countermeasures of power inverters

(1) The output load is short-circuited and out of phase;

(2) The load is too large, and the high current continues to appear;

(3) The load fluctuates greatly, resulting in excessive inrush current, which may cause OC alarm and damage the power module.

2. HW failure

This fault may be a fault unique to LS-IG5 series inverter, and the main causes are as follows:

(1) Damage to the cooling fan. Due to the use environment and other reasons, the friction of the fan bearing is too large, causing the fan load to be too large and showing HW failure;

(2) The damage of the built-in temperature detection circuit of the power module will also cause HW failure;

(3) In addition, the failure of the motherboard is also easy to cause HW failure.

3.Ground fault

Grounding fault is also a fault that we usually encounter, in addition to eliminating the cause of the problem with the grounding of the motor, the most likely part of the failure is the Hall sensor, the Hall sensor is affected by environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, the working point is easy to drift, resulting in GF alarm.

4. No display failure

No display faults are usually caused by damage to the switching power supply. Different from ordinary self-excited or separately excited switching power supplies, LG inverter uses a controllable voltage regulator device called TL431 to adjust the duty cycle of the switch to achieve the purpose of stabilizing the output voltage. When there is a short circuit of the load, it often causes the switching power supply to block the output, and the panel is not displayed. Like other inverters, such as LV and OV faults, drive circuit damage faults will also be encountered in the power generation inverter, which requires us to constantly summarize and explore in practice.

5. FU failure

LS-IS5 and IH series inverters are equipped with fast fuse detection, because the breaking capacity of the fast fuse can reach about 5 ms, so when there is a large current through the inverter, the fast fuse can operate, so as to protect the high-power module. However, due to the damage of the fast fuse, it also caused the occurrence of FU failure. Replace the quick fuse.
