The difference between multi-function and general-purpose inverters

Multi-function inverters need to meet the following two conditions:

First, it can be driven by constant torque load, regardless of the type of machine, and can ensure continuous operation even if the load fluctuates greatly. If the above conditions are not satisfied, the inverter will have accidents such as easy shutdown, difficulty in starting again, and weak overload resistance. In order to meet the above conditions, the inverter itself must have a current control function. For example, it is used to countermeasure instantaneous power outages and electronic thermal relays to ensure reliable operation, to provide a self-seeking function necessary for continuous switching from the power grid, and to compensate (enhance) torque and prevent stalls due to large load fluctuations. These functions are necessary to be based on current control.

Second, the inverter itself should be easy to adapt and cooperate with machinery. In addition to the softwareization of control skills, which are widely used in production machinery, it is also important to have optional functions that are easily adapted to the characteristics of the machine, and input functions to transmit information between the system and the inverter.

                               The difference between multi-function and general-purpose inverters

Simple general-purpose inverter is a kind of general-purpose inverter that simplifies some system functions with energy saving as the main purpose. It is mainly used in water pumps, electric fans, blowers and other occasions that do not require high requirements for the speed regulation function of the system, and has the advantages of small size and low price.

In the design process of high-performance general-purpose inverter, various requirements that may arise in the use of inverter are fully considered, and corresponding preparations have been made in terms of system software and hardware to meet these requirements. When in use, the user can select the algorithm according to the load characteristics and set the various parameters of the inverter, and can also select various spare options provided by the manufacturer according to the needs of the system to meet the special needs of the system.

In addition to being able to be used in all the fields of simple inverter, the high-function multi-function inverter is also widely used in elevators, CNC machine tools, electric vehicles and other occasions that have high requirements for the function of the speed regulation system. In the past, the general-purpose inverter basically used the VVVF control method with a relatively simple circuit structure, which was inferior in torque control function compared with the vc method. However, with the development of inverter skills, some manufacturers have now launched general-purpose inverters that choose VC to meet the needs of the increasingly fierce competition in the inverter market.

This multi-functional universal inverter can be switched to "VVVF operation" or "vc operation" depending on the user's needs, but the price is on par with the general purpose inverter of the VVVF method. Therefore, it is believed that with the development of power electronics and computing skills, the function-to-price ratio of inverters will continue to increase in the future.
