The Eaton 9395 UPS has achieved significant efficiency gains with ESS Eco Mode enabled, and the overall operating efficiency of the parallel system has reached more than 99%.
The overall efficiency of the parallel system is increased by 5-12 percentage points compared with the efficiency of the double-conversion mode under each load factor, and the energy saving effect is obvious, especially when the load rate is less than 30%, which is more suitable for large data centers with high overall energy consumption.
Thousands of tests have verified that ESS mode switching is safe and reliable
When the mains power is interrupted, circuit switching is an important indicator to evaluate the high reliability of UPS. To this end, we set up different working conditions such as 10%-100% different load factors, main/bypass or main input switch power outage, grid voltage overrun, A/B dual UPS mutual control and linkage, etc., and carried out thousands of switching tests and verifications on the conversion between Eaton's 9395 UPS dual conversion mode and ESS AC direct supply mode on site.
During the week-long test, the switching logic and operation of the Eaton 9395 UPS ESS mode were normal, and there were no alarms for the back-end load and server operation. At the same time, the test group recorded the waveform of the whole test process, and from the display results, the output voltage was stable during the switching process, and the waveform was normal and uninterrupted, which fully verified that the UPS working in ESS energy-saving mode can provide stable and reliable power protection for the load under different working conditions, and the UPS system runs stably and reliably.
The length of time it takes to switch between UPS operating modes is related to the quality of power supply and is one of the most important concerns for customers. From the waveform analysis under the above test conditions, it can be concluded that when Eaton UPS online mode and ESS mode are switched between each other, the output voltage waveform is continuous and uninterrupted, and the switching time is "zero"; Only the main input switch is powered off When the UPS is discharged from ESS mode to battery, the output voltage waveform has a brief fluctuation of less than 2 milliseconds. As a result, Eaton's UPS guarantees 100% continuous power even in the event of a static bypass mains outage.
In the mutual control performance test, the two UPSs A and B are connected to the mutual control signal line, and the linkage logic of the two UPSs is normal and stable under the conditions of 0-100% various load rates and the above test conditions. For example, if both A and B UPSs are in ESS mode, and the A UPS simulates any alarm (such as power grid abnormality, stand-alone fault/shutdown, signal line interruption, etc.), the B UPS will switch to normal online mode, and after the alarm is cleared, the B UPS will automatically switch back to ESS mode. Multiple tests were carried out on road A and road B in the field, and the results were normal.
Compared with the energy-saving mode of bypass power supply and main power supply supplemented by the industry, the starting time of Eaton's ESS AC direct power supply technology is at least six or seven years ahead of the industry's current energy-saving mode, and the technology maturity is higher, and has been successfully practiced by key customers such as Runze Technology, Jiangtian Data, Microsoft and other domestic and foreign Internet and IDC operators, setting a new benchmark for UPS products for the industry with significant energy efficiency and reliable operation.
