Gellersburg, Michigan...... Eaton Cummins Automatic Transmission Technologies announced that it is expanding its Endurant automatic transmission product line with the launch of the all-new Endurant XD™ series.
The Eaton Cummins Endurant XD Series is a purpose-built, high-performance automatic transmission designed for on-highway applications with high gross weight ratings, such as twin and triple trailers, and heavy-duty on/off-highway applications, such as dump and logging trucks.
The Endurant XD series has torque and horsepower capacity that covers all Class 8 North American engines, including the Cummins X15™. The Endurant XD transmission will be available in 2021.
"The DNA of the Endurant platform is efficiency, lightness and low cost of ownership," said Charles Masters, general manager of Eaton Cummins Automatic Transmission Technology. "We took that DNA and increased customer demand for the durability and unique features of trucks operating in heavy-duty and occupation applications to create the Endurant XD Series."
Because reliability is of paramount importance to customers, the Endurant XD series is currently undergoing an extensive development test program that will evaluate transmissions under extreme conditions.
The Endurant XD series has 18 forward speeds, making it versatile and can be used in many applications and driving scenarios. It's designed to be easy to use, with impressive low-speed maneuverability, up to six reverse gears, and optimized software to make smart shifting decisions to instill confidence in difficult conditions. The Endurant XD series is equipped with a bottom 8-bolt and rear 4-bolt high-capacity power take-off, and a transmission oil cooler is available when needed.
