With the change of supply chain and the iterative upgrading of local technology, more and more automation sites have begun to boldly try and successfully apply domestic brand PLC, which ensures the replaceability of parts on industrial sites and improves the "safety" of production stability. Today I would like to talk to you about why function blocks and case programs are very important for RFID products.
01. The role of function blocks
Taking a well-known European brand as an example, usually importing function blocks is to import "library files" (Libraies) in the global library, and after importing, through simple configuration, we can directly call the required pins in the program interface, such as read, write, inactivation, etc.:
In this way, for PLC programmers, there is no need to identify complex process data and understand the handshake logic in the communication process, and it is simple to call what pin with any function, which greatly reduces the programming workload.
02. Do industrial control products need function blocks?
For example, for products with relatively simple functions, such as photoelectric and ranging, users only care about a few single-digit variables when using them, and there is not too much interaction between data sending and receiving. At this time, it is completely possible for new users to program independently, and then function blocks or case programs are not necessary.
Another example is a barcode reader product, which often needs to have a trigger signal input during the application process to ensure that the upper level can normally obtain the result of whether the code reading is successful. In this case, there is a situation where the PLC outputs a message to the reader to trigger it, and if there is a function block or a case program, it will be helpful for the programmer of the new user. Of course, if some slightly experienced users can specify variables directly by controlling the process data, they can trigger without the need for function blocks.
For RFID, its technical characteristics are not only to obtain the tag information, that is, to read, but also to write the tag information, and the written tag information will have different lengths, content or expressions. When a handshake is required for industrial bus communication, the process data needs to be processed in addition to understanding the handshake mechanism and understanding the read and write messages of the code reader. Even high-level encryption and inactivation functions, etc., which will make the programming work of programmers particularly difficult. It would be very helpful to have a suitable function block here.
03. What can Sick provide?
Users can find the function blocks of the corresponding programming software of the product from the download area of the official website (click on the blue word to jump), and directly import and program according to the user manual. Taking a well-known European brand as an example, we have integrated the basic functions of UHF, such as read, write and trigger actions, into the function block pins; In addition, inactivation encryption, user-defined commands, device password setting, and communication test functions are all integrated. Users can make calls as needed without having to understand complex handshake mechanisms and message content.
In order to directly adapt to as many user needs as possible rather than a certain function or site, a number of engineers spent dozens of days communicating and exchanging with each other, thus successfully completing the complete functional block production of the brand and Sick RFID products. This also means that the brand's users have an additional RFID option, and it also means that the SICK RFID reader can be matched with more PLCs for more complete functions. This experience left a deep impression on Xiaoxi, and I hope that colleagues in the industrial control industry, both at home and abroad, can give full play to their creativity and each other's characteristics to help the healthy progress of the industry.
