Two of Eaton's factories were awarded "Green Factories" to accelerate their sustainability goals!

Recently, Eaton's Pingdingshan plant and Changzhou plant were awarded the honorary titles of "Henan Green Factory" and "Changzhou Green Factory" respectively. This is the practical result of Eaton's in-depth implementation of the "carbon neutrality" goal in China.

In order to promote the green and low-carbon development of industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has organized various provinces and cities to carry out the selection of "green factories" since 2017. Only enterprises that meet the standards of implementing environmental protection measures, implementing green manufacturing projects, and building green manufacturing systems in the production process can obtain this authoritative certification.

Accelerate for sustainable goals

As a global intelligent power management company, Eaton has always made sustainability a core goal, committing to reduce carbon emissions from its operations by more than 50% by 2030 and achieve carbon-neutral operations. Since 2020, Eaton has invested $528 million in sustainable solutions to help unlock a low-carbon energy future around the world.

Eaton has also implemented carbon reduction goals in its factories and businesses around the world, injecting impetus into the creation of green factories from multiple dimensions such as improving the use of renewable energy, material recycling and recovery, and optimizing energy efficiency.

Green power pathway to energy conservation and emission reduction

In industrial production, energy consumption is the main source of carbon emissions. Eaton continues to optimize its energy mix, with 37% of its global electricity consumption coming from renewable sources in 2021. At present, more than 10 factories in the Asia-Pacific region have built photovoltaic power generation systems, and Eaton's Pingdingshan and Changzhou factories are among them.

Recycling

Designed for the environment

Eaton integrates sustainability into every aspect of its production, widely uses environmentally friendly materials, strengthens recycling and recycling, and fulfills its "green" responsibilities and commitments. In 2021, Eaton's Asia Pacific facilities saw a 17.59% decrease in total annual water use and 61.42% of waste to landfill compared to 2018.

According to GB/T 20862, all metal parts of products manufactured at Eaton's Pingdingshan plant can be recycled, except for the plastic sheath of the wire. In 2021, approximately 92% of the waste generated at the facility was directly recycled. In addition, the factory has also established a sound water-saving management system, implementing zonal metering, which has saved 18% of water compared to the same period of the previous year.

Eaton's Changzhou plant replaces volatile materials with environmentally friendly materials, which can reduce the use of toxic and harmful substances by 950kg per year. At the same time, the factory uses recyclable packaging and logistics materials, and collects and reuses residual raw materials after production to improve the overall utilization rate of resources.

Eaton's digital technology helps factories unlock the potential of lean management, continuously optimize production efficiency and energy management, and create green and smart factories.

Eaton's Pingdingshan and Changzhou plants use management systems and intelligent equipment such as collaborative robots, MES, SPC quality tools, AMR logistics robots, etc., to achieve higher production efficiency, thereby reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Through the energy monitoring system, Eaton's Changzhou plant keeps abreast of the energy consumption and utilization status of each link, and systematically replaces high-energy consumption equipment to greatly improve energy efficiency, and has passed the ISO 50001 energy management system certification, guiding green manufacturing with scientific and technological innovation.

Mitigating the climate crisis is an incumbent responsibility of all businesses. As a long-time advocate of sustainability, Eaton reduced its global greenhouse gas emissions by 16% in 2021 compared to 2018.
