In power distribution equipment such as voltage distribution cabinets and switchgear at all levels of power plants and substations, the conductors connected between large electrical equipment such as generators and transformers and various electrical equipment are called busbars. Busbars, also known as busbars, are used to gather, distribute, and transmit electrical energy. Single bus wiring can be divided into two types: single bus unsegmented and single bus segmentation.

1. The single bus is not segmented wiring.

When there is only one power incoming line, this kind of wiring is commonly used, as shown in Figure 1 (a) each incoming and outgoing line is equipped with a blocking switch and circuit breaker. The barrier switch close to the line is called the line barrier switch, and the barrier switch close to the bus is called the bus barrier switch.

Advantages: simple and clear wiring, less equipment, good economy. Due to the simple wiring, the possibility of misoperation by the control cabinet operator is reduced.

Defects: Poor reliability and flexibility. When the power line, bus or bus barrier switch has a problem or is repaired, the power supply of all users is suspended.

Scope of application: It can be used for tertiary load users with small capacity and low power supply liaison requirements, or secondary load users with backup power supply.

2. Single-bus segmented wiring.

When there is a dual power supply, a single bus segment wiring is often selected, as shown in Figure 1(b), a barrier switch or circuit breaker segment can be selected. The single-bus segmented wiring can be operated separately or side by side.

When the segmented operation is selected, each section is equivalent to the operation of the single bus without segmented wiring, and the electrical system of each section of the bus does not affect each other. When any section of the bus has a problem or maintenance, only the power supply of the load on the section of the bus will be stopped. When any power supply line is faulty or overhauled, if the other power supply can bear the load of all the lead wires, the power supply of the load carried by the bus can be restored through the "reverse operation", otherwise the load carried by the power supply should still stop running or partially stop running.

If the power supply is overhauled when running side-by-side, there is no need for the bus to cut off, just disconnect the circuit breaker and blocking switch of the power supply and adjust the load of the other power supply. However, when the bus is faulty or overhauled, it will cause a short-term power outage of the normal bus.

Due to the inconvenience of the reverse operation, the barrier switch section is no longer selected, and the single bus wiring of the circuit breaker section is generally selected. When there is a problem with a section of the bus in the switch cabinet, the segmented circuit breaker and the power supply do not affect the normal operation of the other section of the bus.

Advantages: high reliability of power supply, flexible operation (only refers to the single bus wiring with circuit breaker segments), except for bus faults or maintenance, continuous power supply to users.

Defects: When the bus is faulty or overhauled, about 50% of users will have a power outage.

Scope of application: When there are two power supply lines, the single bus segmented wiring is selected, which can supply power to the primary and secondary loads, especially after the standby power supply is installed and actively put into the equipment, the power supply reliability of the single bus wiring with circuit breaker segmentation is further improved. Load symmetry and overall balance (this is used in most coal mine switchgears and distribution cabinets).

When choosing the connection mode of the switch cabinet bus, it is necessary to fully consider its advantages and disadvantages, and use different bus wiring methods under the condition that it is sufficient to meet the application.
