The connection of voltage distribution devices at all levels in the substation, as well as the connection of electrical equipment such as transformers and corresponding distribution devices, mostly use bare wires or stranded wires of rectangular or circular cross-section, which are collectively referred to as busbars.

The role of the bus bar is to collect, distribute and transmit electrical energy. Because the bus is in operation, there is a huge amount of electric energy through, and when the short circuit is short-circuited, it bears a great heat and electrodynamic effect, therefore, it is necessary to reasonably select the bus data, cross-sectional shape and cross-sectional area to meet the requirements of an economic operation. The bus bar is divided into hard bus bar and soft bus bar according to the structure. Hard busbars are further divided into rectangular busbars and tubular busbars. This is part of the difference between busbar and busway. The rectangular bus is generally used in the main transformer to the distribution room, and its advantages are that the construction device is convenient, the change in operation is small, and the current carrying capacity is large, but the cost is high. The soft bus is used outdoors, because of the large space, the wire swings and does not cause the separation between the wires to be unworkable. The soft bus is easy to construct and the cost is low, which is the difference between the bus bar and the bus duct.
