Bosch Rexroth is continuing to drive the digital transformation of linear motion technology and is adding a new subsystem to the Smart MechatroniX solution platform, a suite of intelligent functions for dispensing, enabling users to perform typical dispensing tasks such as bonding and sealing more efficiently and easily than ever before. The subsystem combines state-of-the-art linear motion technology with automation hardware and intuitive software to form a complete linear robotic system for rapid digital selection and configuration. Thanks to the pre-installed operating software, it is possible to enter production within a few minutes. The Smart Function Kit is versatile and provides support for all common dispensing heads.
Manufacturers, system integrators, and mechanical engineers in a wide range of industries, including automotive, packaging, battery manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing, need faster, easier, and more cost-effective access to typical dispensing tasks such as bonding, sealing, painting, filling, and casting. Bosch Rexroth can now meet this requirement with a suite of intelligent functions for dispensing operations.
The new subsystem is an integral part of the Smart MechatroniX solution platform, as is the Smart Function Suite for handling and the Smart Function Kit for stamping. The platform incorporates linear motion technology, software, and sensors into smart products and fast-to-use solution packages. In order to achieve upward integration in the field of linear robotics, Bosch Rexroth is continuously offering new solutions for a wide range of motion tasks.
The Smart MechatroniX platform is not only scaling out with new solution packages, but also scaling up through partnerships. As a result of this latest collaboration, ViscoTec dispensing heads can be quickly and easily combined with a suite of smart features for dispensing operations. To ensure this, the subsystem records specific parameters that can be read by the software and taken into account during setup. It is expected that products from other manufacturers will be integrated in the future.
The open ctrlX AUTOMATION platform provides a standardized control environment for the suite of intelligent functions. The operating software runs as an application on the ctrlX CORE control system of the Smart Function Suite. In this case, a flexible combination of hardware platforms and innovative software makes it possible to map complex linear motions with simple graphical programming. Line integration can also be easily implemented with function blocks.
The suite of intelligent functions for dispensing operations combines coordinated components to form a complete, almost ready-to-use linear robotic system that includes control technology, energy supply systems, motors, connecting elements, and operating software. Use the LinSelect selection tool to quickly determine and select the size of individual solution packages. Predefined structural structures make the product selection process easier. After the corresponding parameterization, the subsystem is fully online configurable and orderable. Compatible dispensing heads are available from the relevant partners.
The pre-installed software reduces the time required for commissioning by up to 80%, and the commissioning process can be completed with a wizard program. The parameterization of the servo drive and the parameterization of the dispensing head (in the case of a fully integrated partner attachment) as well as the axis reference can be performed automatically.
Instead of having to laboriously define the process with lines of code, motion sequencing can be graphically performed using off-the-shelf function blocks, including dispensing functions such as dosing, rinsing, or wiping needles.
Diagnostic tools for quick troubleshooting are also included in the scope of the software. The web-based dashboard provides an overview of efficiency, program flow, and production history, as well as current process data such as location, flow rate, and cycle time.
