Of the nine waterworks in Berlin's water supply system, Tegel's water supply has a long history. Since 1877, drinking water has been pumped from Lake Tegel on the west coast. Today, the plant uses 116 vertical wells and one horizontal filtration well to pump a total volume of 260,000 m3 of drinking water per day.

The untreated water, pumped from a depth of 30 to 60 meters, using eight electric pumps, is fed into the waterworks. It is then aerated into an atomization tower where it is gradually filtered to produce pure water. The water is fed into the drinking water system from large purified water containers through a number of supply pipes, during which the flow of drinking water is measured. Historically, magnetic induction flowmeters have been used for this measurement. However, the three measuring points had to be repaired due to wear and tear, and replacing the magnetic induction flowmeter meant costly flow meters and expensive piping work, with the attendant delays, pipe drainage, and time-consuming filling of pipe sections for reoperation.

FUJI's easy-to-install clip-on ultrasonic technology has proven to be an excellent alternative for suitability. The FHJI ultrasonic flowmeter is much more affordable than the magnetic induction flowmeter on the common model (DN1400) and can be retrofitted in operation and without the need for underground work. The clip-on Fujifilm ultrasonic probe is simply mounted on the outer wall of the pipe and measures the flow rate non-invasively, so there is virtually no chance of wear: thanks to Fuji's outstanding performance, it has the upper hand compared to other ultrasonic flow meters.

Whether it's an outer coating, a steel lining, or a cast iron pipe, Fuji produces an excellent measurement signal. Fuji is simply replacing the existing magnetic induction flow meter as a flow meter, not actually: there is no need to dismantle the worn equipment when installing a non-intrusive measuring point.
