2. Good quality weld

In submerged arc welding, the welding area is reliably protected by flux and slag shell, which greatly reduces the chance of invasion of harmful gases. Together, it is possible to reduce the cooling rate of the weld seam and then improve the mechanical properties of the weld joint. The welding specification of submerged arc welding is relatively stable, the welding speed is balanced, the surface roughness of the weld is small, and the chemical composition and mechanical properties are also relatively uniform. Because the penetration depth of submerged arc welding is deep, it is not easy to have shortcomings such as lack of penetration. Because the current is large and the penetration depth is large, the gas in the molten pool often does not have time to escape, so it is more sensitive to pores.

3. Save welding materials and electrical energy

Because of the large penetration depth, the thicker weldments can be welded without opening the groove, and the filling amount of welding wire in the weld is significantly reduced, which saves the welding consumables and the electrical energy consumed by processing the groove and filling the groove. Because submerged arc welding is effectively protected by flux, there is very little spatter, and there is no loss of electrode head like electrode arc welding, which improves the utilization rate of filler wire and reduces the cost.

4. Good working conditions

Because the mechanization of the welding process is completed, the operation is simpler, the labor intensity of the welder is reduced, and the arc burns under the flux layer, there is no harmful effect of arc light, and the smoke and dust emitted are also less, and then the working conditions of the welder are improved.
