01 Background
As early as 3 years ago, Allove planned to combine the concepts of "fresh boiled noodles" and "robot clusters", and use new concepts, new technologies and new models to build China's first "unmanned" smart noodle restaurant that combines kitchen and Internet technology. The smart, unmanned dining experience they envisioned starts when a customer enters the restaurant – after the customer is seated, they scan the QR code to enter the ordering interface and place their own order. After that, both cooking and food delivery are done by robots. The noodles are available in optional sizes, cold cuts are fixed, tea and coffee are hot, and if you prefer cold drinks, choose a drink. Two mobile food trolleys are responsible for the distribution of food and beverages. And how is the most critical noodle cooking process done by the standard operation of automated equipment? And at the same time exude the temperature of technology?
02 pain points
The customer divides the entire cooking process into 8 steps:
1. Dough making robot
2. Dough packing robot
3. Dough storage and retrieval robot
4. Raw noodle cooking robot
5. Bowl disinfection delivery robot
6. Bone broth with sauce robot
7. Vegetable and toppings delivery robots
8. Bone & Top Cooking Robot
For the production, storage and cooking stages of noodles, the customer devised a mechanism to successfully complete a series of actions. However, in the second half, during the feeding and distribution phase, the customer observed that all the pick-and-place was clinker, and with the detailed requirements for the presentation of the food, the mechanism could not complete the task "simply and crudely". They need to be performed by flexible equipment, so customers are turning to cobots.
03 Solution
Light weight, beautiful appearance, and compact dimensions are the characteristics that make the choice of this type of robot. ELITE's cobot EC66 (6kg) weighs only 17.5kg and can be mounted on a tabletop with a very small footprint. In addition, each joint of the 6-joint cobot can achieve ± 360° rotation, flexible movement, and no dead spots. As a result, it is able to complete the toppings of freshly boiled noodles with a more supple and dexterous action, adding "soul" to a bowl of machine-cooked noodles.
"Cobots are easier to program than we thought. ELITE's robots support drag-and-drop demos, demonstrators, and PC interactive programming, which was an unexpected discovery during our integration process. Now that the engineering work of programming and commissioning is much easier, we are more motivated to use these devices regularly, which sparks more imagination. The customer said. Currently, one robot can handle two different toppings. Next, the customer plans to use two robots to manage eight kinds of toppings to further enrich the "menu" of the noodle restaurant and improve work efficiency.
