Although the customer is researching high-precision products, some of the processes of some products are still led by manual work. Among them, there are some tasks that do not have too much technical content, and with the continuous change of market demand, labor costs are rising, customers want to maintain competitiveness by improving production capacity and efficiency, and also hope to let some stations to replace people with robots to enable enterprises to achieve automation transformation and upgrading.
Pain
The product parts produced by the customer need to be polished to the shell before they can be used, the station needs to polish the shell quantity is very large, the staff in the station needs to bury their heads in the boring grinding work and keep repeating the boring grinding work, and the long-term repetitive work is anti-human, the staff will not only produce physiological fatigue, but also the quality of the polished workpiece is uneven, and its pass rate can not be guaranteed.
Moreover, the product is adjusted in real time according to the order volume of the company, resulting in fluctuations in the amount of grinding required. As a result, the number of workers at that station is often redundant or in short supply. Considering the cost of employment and the qualified rate of products, the customer made up his mind to completely transform the station, so that the automation equipment can replace the manual work task.
The production line has been built for a long time, and with the process upgrade and the increase in user demand, a lot of equipment has been added, so the production line space is cramped, and it is difficult to add new equipment - especially the traditional industrial robots must be installed with safety fences, so the customer put their hopes on collaborative robots. At the same time, the customer also put forward a requirement to reduce the downtime loss caused by the introduction of new equipment while carrying out automation upgrades, and it is best to be "seamless".
solution
After discussion with the integrator, the customer finally selected Elite EC66 collaborative robot, with a load of 6kg, a working radius of 914mm, and a repeatability of ±0.03mm. The workpiece to be ground is placed in a matrix tray, and two sets of suction cups are integrated at the end of the robot, one for suction and one for placement. The robot sucks up a whole group of workpieces, places them on the sanding belt, and then applies pressure by the limiting and pressing device to complete the grinding work.
Thanks to the small footprint of the Elite cobot and the easy integration and deployment of the product features, although the workstation is not large, it also integrates the purge and vacuum functions after grinding. The project was quickly field-proven, and the entire automation was deployed in just one working day. In the end, it not only saves the customer's investment in labor costs, but also ensures the grinding quality of the workpiece, which has been fully recognized by the customer.
