Shanghai, China, April 6, 2022 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced that Sinopharm Shanghai Biopharma Co., Ltd. (Sinopharma), a subsidiary of Sinopharm Group, has selected Honeywell's low global warming potential (GWP) energy-efficient refrigerant Solstice® N40 (R-448A) in its vaccine cold storage expansion project in Shanghai to store a variety of vaccines for use in the Shanghai area, including COVID-19 vaccines.

The project marks the first time that Solstice® N40 has been used for medical cold chain storage, which not only meets the requirements of the project's vaccine storage temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, but also effectively reduces carbon emissions during vaccine storage and distribution, helping to achieve China's "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality" goals.

On September 15, 2021, the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol entered into force in China. In order to meet the requirements of the amendment on the phased reduction of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and at the same time respond to China's "dual carbon" goal of striving to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, many domestic cold storage warehouses are actively looking for reliable, practical and alternative solutions that help reduce carbon footprint. The GWP of Honeywell Solstice® N40 is approximately 68% lower than that of conventional HFC refrigerants represented by R-404A.
