Honeywell UOP helps Wabash Valley Resources LLC's gasification plant reduce carbon emissions and produce clean hydrogen
Shanghai, China, June 16, 2021 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced that Wabash Valley Resources LLC is using a range of Honeywell UOP technologies in its gasification plant conversion project in West Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, to capture and store 1.65 million tons of carbon dioxide per year and produce clean hydrogen. The project will be one of the largest carbon sequestration projects in the United States to date.

Honeywell UOP will be responsible for providing the technical licensing, basic engineering and specialized equipment, including the modular MOLSIV™ zeolite dehydration unit, the modular Ortloff CO2 fractionation unit and the Polybed™ pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit for the separation of CO2 from the gasification unit and the treatment of syngas.
Ortloff CO2 fractionation technology produces a high-purity liquid CO2 stream while separating the hydrogen-rich stream that will be purified by a pressure swing adsorption unit. The CO2 streams are sent to permanent geological storage, while the hydrogen-rich streams can be used as fuel for hydrogen turbines to generate electricity. Hydrogen-rich streams can also be used in chemical synthesis or marketed as a clean transportation fuel.
