Improve energy efficiency and operational safety with Honeywell UOP Kellert burner technology

Shanghai, China, January 7, 2021 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that Hengli Petrochemical Co., Ltd. ("Hengli") has successfully adopted UOP's innovative Kellert burner technology to minimize nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions and their environmental impact in China while ensuring safe and stable operation.

In 2017, Hengli decided to adopt Kellert's advanced flare and low NOx burner technology to comply with environmental regulations and improve the energy efficiency and operational safety of its refining and chemical complex in Dalian, Liaoning Province. In 2020, Kellert equipped the burners with an innovative Low Flame Mode (LFM) technology to further reduce carbon monoxide emissions in response to changes in on-site operating conditions, which not only helps to reduce emissions, but also improves air quality and eliminates the causes of acid rain.

Typically, when the furnace temperature is below 650°C, the level of carbon monoxide emitted by the NOX burner increases. The Keellert burner with low-fire mode maintains the ideal level of NOx and carbon monoxide emissions below 50mg/Nm3. This helped Hengli overcome a long-standing problem that plagued the industry, reducing nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide emissions to reduce environmental impact, without compromising the safety and stability of operations.
