The domestically produced ARJ-21 regional airliner is expected to be the first Aspire 400 to be deployed in the world
Shanghai, China, September 16, 2021 – Honeywell's (NASDAQ: HON) Aspire 400 satellite communications system has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Communications (TCCA) of the Canada Ministry of Communications (TSO-C159), which means that the ARJ21, a Chinese regional airliner equipped with the system, is expected to be the first Aspire 400 aircraft to be deployed in the world. The ARJ21 aircraft crew will be able to use high-speed secure voice communications and data connectivity, further enhancing the safety and efficiency of air travel.

The Honeywell Aspire 400 features a small antenna that reduces the overall footprint and provides more reliable and necessary communications for pilots and crew of any aircraft. The system uses segregated channels for safe operation, providing secure voice and data services to the aircraft cockpit and non-secure voice and data services to the aircraft cabin. The system can improve fleet management, mission effectiveness, maintenance, and flight operations.
The Aspire 400 system allows aircraft to communicate more securely with air traffic control and airline operations centers. The system provides broadband data rates that support Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and other applications. Compared to high-frequency radios, the Aspire 400 provides pilots with better air traffic control voice communications. In addition, the Aspire 400's real-time air-to-ground data transmission is more efficient, which can be extremely helpful when a course change is needed to avoid bad weather.
One of the most important features of the Aspire 400 compared to Honeywell's traditional satellite communications products is the introduction of an Internet protocol-based security and operational communications service that uses Inmarsat's in-flight Internet connectivity service, SwiftBroadband-Safety.
