Houston, Texas, United States, March 10, 2022 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and TotalEnergies ("Total Dynamics") recently announced the signing of a strategic collaboration agreement to advance advanced plastics recycling technologies. Under the agreement, Honeywell and Sacyr's joint venture plastics take-back plant in Andalusia, Spain, will supply Total Power with recycled polymer materials (RPFs) produced by Honeywell's UpCycle process technology. Total will acquire the material and transform it into a high-quality polymer suitable for high-quality applications such as food-grade packaging.
The plastic recycling plant, a joint venture between Honeywell and Sacyr, uses UpCycle technology to convert 30,000 tons of mixed plastic into reused polymer material each year, saving it from landfill or incineration. The project is expected to start production in 2023 and will produce recycled polymers that will be used to produce high-quality polymers at Total Dynamics' production sites in Europe. The recycled polymer has the same properties as virgin polymers and can be used in a wide range of applications, including food-grade applications such as rigid and soft food packaging containers.
This project marks the beginning of a collaboration between Honeywell and Total Dynamics in the field of advanced plastics recycling. The two sides will work together to tackle the issue of plastic abandonment and promote a sustainable circular economy on a European and global scale.

Honeywell's UpCycle process know-how leverages industry-leading molecular transformation, pyrolysis and contaminant management know-how to convert discarded plastics into recycled polymers, which can then be used to make new plastics. UpCycle's process skills have dramatically broadened the range of recyclable plastics to include waste plastics that would otherwise be unrecyclable, such as colorful, flexible, multi-layer packaging or polystyrene. Combined with other chemical and mechanical recovery processes, as well as improvements in collection and sorting processes, UpCycle's process skills have the potential to increase the global percentage of recyclable plastic waste to 90 percent.
