Honeywell helped Walvax build China's first mRNA new crown vaccine digital factory

Shanghai, China, November 5, 2021 – Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today announced at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) that it has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Yunnan Watson Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Walvax Biotech) to carry out diversified collaboration around the biopharmaceutical industry, further deepen the partnership in the business areas of enterprise digital transformation and intelligent connected factory, accelerate the construction of the digital empowerment center for the vaccine industry, and complete the operation of an outstanding smart factory. The two sides will work together to promote the transformation and upgrading of the vaccine industry in terms of digitalization, intelligence and operational excellence.
Previously, Honeywell has successfully cooperated with Walvax Biotech to provide automated control and interconnected factory solutions for China's first mRNA new crown vaccine production workshop, helping the digital and intelligent production of mRNA new crown vaccines. The project is located in the Vaccine Industrial Park, Yuxi High-tech Zone, Yunnan Province, and was built and implemented by Yuxi Watson Biotechnology Co., Ltd. as the industrialization base, which was completed and delivered in September.
Honeywell's Process Control Department has opened cooperation with Walvax Biotech in the fields of automation control, digital transformation, and intelligent connected factory, and used Honeywell's smart factory skills and world-leading practical experience to empower the digital production and operation of factories, promote the digital construction of the vaccine industry, and complete the policy of building a smart factory.

In order to help Walvax's mRNA vaccine factory achieve a world-class level of safe, reliable, intelligent and sustainable operation, Honeywell has completed the process of plant layout, batch control and BMS/EMS, and ensured quality and reproducibility while optimizing production and accelerating time to market. In addition, this project uses skills such as digital twins and dynamic models to monitor the dynamics of property and process operation, and complete the visualization of production management.
Walvax mRNA vaccine factory is the first mRNA vaccine industrialization base in China. Walvax Biotech is a modern biopharmaceutical enterprise specializing in the development, production and sale of biological drugs such as vaccines and blood products, and the new coronavirus mRNA vaccine developed by the company in collaboration with Suzhou Abogen Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has recently obtained the phase III clinical trial approval issued by the drug regulatory authorities of Mexico, Indonesia and Nepal, marking that the new coronavirus mRNA vaccine has entered the phase III clinical trial stage in the above three countries.
