This is the second consecutive year that Delta has been recognized as a CDP Supply Chain Leader, and it is also the second time that Delta's efforts and actions on climate issues have been evaluated as indicators after being recognized as a leading enterprise in CDP's two environmental themes of "climate change" and "water security" at the end of last year.
In 2017, Delta adopted and implemented the Scientific Carbon Reduction Policy (SBTs), through independent energy conservation, solar energy self-consumption, and the purchase of green electricity or certificates, and in 2021, it surpassed the original policy of reducing carbon intensity by 56.6% by 2025. The share of renewable electricity used by global outlets also reached 45.7% in 2020. Based on the experience and achievements of SBT, Delta further joined RE100 and pledged to achieve 100% renewable electricity and carbon neutrality in all global outlets by 2030. I am glad that Delta and its partners have been able to achieve the highest rating of "A" in CDP's supply chain participation leaders for a long time.
Join hands with the supply chain to decarbonize the future
Considering suppliers as long-term partners in the opposition to climate change, Delta actively encourages energy conservation to move towards zero carbon, not only formulating a code of conduct for suppliers on climate change, providing professional education and practice resources, but also leading manufacturers of different sizes to carry out carbon inventory, requiring them to pass the ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory specification. Every year, Delta interacts with more than 90% of its first-tier suppliers on climate change and other issues through ESG questionnaires, education exercises, supply chain participation, and quarterly supplier reflection meetings (QBR) on performance, and then formulates the next step according to their capabilities and risk levels. In order to effectively reduce the risk of supplier chain disconnection due to drought, Delta also selected nearly 600 important suppliers as drought risk evaluation objects, and included the review results as the basis for decision-making.
Every year, Delta also calculates the carbon footprint of dozens of customers participating in CDP's supply chain program, and provides energy-saving technologies and carbon reduction benefits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at each stage. From 2010 to 2020, Delta's high-efficiency power products helped customers around the world save a total of 33.5 billion kWh of electricity, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 17.8 million tons. Since 2015, the energy-saving data of 11 products, including electronic restats, server power supplies, solar photovoltaic inverters, and DC chargers for electric vehicles, shipped by Delta, has been confirmed by ISAE 3000 to show in detail the performance of helping customers reduce carbon emissions. In addition, in 2020, 100% of Delta's GHG Sector 1 and Sector 2 were inspected by ISO 14064-1, and Sector 3 was also inspected by a third party. The plant also implemented 80 water conservation programs and 111 waste reduction programs, reducing a total of 183.6 thousand tons of water consumption and 7,774 tons of waste. These climate actions and practices echo CDP SER's approach to decarbonizing the value chain through participation.
CDP's annual environmental information disclosure and scoring process is recognized as an important norm for corporate environmental information transparency, and the organization conducts SER reviews on the comprehensive performance of corporate governance, policies, greenhouse gas emissions, overall climate change project performance, and supply chain management from the questionnaire of enterprises responding to their supply chain plans every year. CDP's supply chain solutions' more than 200 key corporate members have a total acquisition spend of up to US$5.5 trillion, and as many as 23,487 of these companies and suppliers have debunked in 2021, advancing carbon reduction solutions that can reduce carbon emissions by a total of about 231 million tons.
