Common problems with the S7-200 SMART high-speed counter

The high-speed counter can be initialized or changed during operation, such as initial values and preset values. The procedure should be:

Set update options for control bytes. If you need to update the setting data, you should set the corresponding control position bit (set to "1") in the control byte; Settings that do not need to be changed cannot be set by the corresponding control bits

The desired value is then fed into the initial value and preset value control registers

Execute HSC commands

Why do high-speed counters lose pulses?

It is necessary to first confirm how the conclusion of the lost pulse was obtained, how the lost pulse was known, and whether this method is reliable.

Confirm that the pulse generation source is working properly and matches the hardware input metrics of the HSC, such as logic level threshold, maximum frequency, etc.

Confirm that the transmission process is reliable and that the cable length and shielding are in accordance with the specifications.

The hardware on the CPU side is working fine.

Confirm that the program is being used correctly.

Confirm that the HSC works to match the customer's process requirements, e.g. if there is a pulse input when initializing the HSC, as the pulse cannot be detected at this time.
