Autonomous mobile robot AMRs typically use LiDAR photoelectric sensors to detect objects. These photosensors emit light and rely on reflection to measure the distance to a specific surface. It's a great way to detect a solid object, but it can present challenges when it's surrounded by a transparent material such as glass. In these cases, the emitted light will pass through the material and cause a collision or loss of false readings and positions. Incorrect readings may result in product damage, shutdown, or personal injury.
1. Object detection and level measurement
Ultrasonic photoelectric sensors can be used to solve even the most complex tasks involving object detection or level measurement, as their measurement methods work reliably under almost all conditions. The sensor emits high-frequency sound pulses that reflect back from the target back to the transducer. Based on the propagation time of the emitted pulse, the distance between the sensor and the object is then measured. Because sound is used instead of light, color and surface materials have no effect on sensing. This means that the robot can accurately detect glass and other transparent objects.
2. Complete AMR coverage
Begafort offers a wide range of ultrasonic sensors with a measurement range of up to 10 meters, a minimum dead zone and a wide range of outputs, including digital, analog, and pulse-width modulation. They have a synchronization function that allows multiple sensors to be mounted tightly together. As a result, the sensors can be used in arrays with no crosstalk or interference between the sensors, providing complete coverage around the AMR.

The difference between sensors and transmitters – we are blessed
Sensors and transmitters are thermal surface concepts. A sensor is a general term for a device or equipment that can be measured by rules and converted into a usable output signal according to a certain rule, which is generally composed of an active element and a conversion element. When the output of the sensor is a regular canonical signal, then ...
