In the field of industrial automation, there is always the challenge of connecting the individual sensor components on movable machine components. Regardless of their mechanical structure, the use of e-chains® or slip rings tends to wear or crack slightly. As a result, their durability is very limited, and together they cause high maintenance costs. P+F's new wireless inductive system, the new wireless sensing system of WIS, is a useful and intelligent solution for these uses.
With a large operating distance of 7 mm between the main and secondary transmitters, the new WIS 2 series provides significant fault tolerance for axial misalignment, transmitting up to 12 watts of energy.
Inductive, capacitive, photoelectric or ultrasonic sensors can be connected. WIS offers a maintenance-free solution for the wireless transmission of up to 8 sensors, making it possible to transfer wireless power and communicate wirelessly between sensors on moving machine components.
How do I complete a wireless transmission?
The WIS wireless sensing system operates on the principle of inductive coupling and consists of a primary transmitter and a secondary transmitter. To achieve the intention of energy transfer, on the side of the main transmitter, an induced alternating magnetic field occurs. When a secondary circuit enters this field, it transmits enough energy to operate industrial sensors, such as inductive, photoelectric or capacitive sensors mounted directly on moving machine parts. The signal status of the sensor is transmitted to the main transmitter side through its own transmission pulse, and the signal condition is supplied to the control system.
