With the laying of the first pile foundation, as a major construction project in Shanghai in 2020, the third phase of the Shanghai Fanuc Smart Factory project cooperated by the global robot giant Fanuc Group and Shanghai Electric Group officially started construction. The project is the world's largest robot base of Fanuc Group after Japan, which can be called the "super smart factory" in the robot industry, and after completion, it will drive the entire robot industry in Shanghai to a new level.

Shanghai Fanuc was established in 1997 by Fanuc Group and Shanghai Electric Group, with each party holding 50% of the shares. Its first and second phase factories in Baoshan were completed in 2010 and 2014 respectively, and the first and second phases of the factory have a total area of nearly 60,000 square meters, of which nearly 40,000 square meters are used for system integration R&D and manufacturing, installation and commissioning, and factory inspection.

In order to plan for greater development and further consolidate Fanuc's leading position in China's robotics and intelligent machinery market, Fanuc Group and Shanghai Electric Group decided to jointly build the third phase of Shanghai Fanuc Smart Factory in Shanghai Robot Industrial Park.

The new project covers an area of about 431 acres, with a construction area of 300,000 square meters and a total investment of about 1.58 billion yuan, which will make full use of Fanuc Group's strong engineering integration and technical service capabilities to build an intelligent manufacturing base integrating R&D, display, sales, system integration and after-sales service. In terms of overall planning, the entire park is divided into a production logistics area and a R&D supporting area: the production and logistics area is planned to include a system and manufacturing workshop, a paint workshop and a machining workshop; The R&D supporting area is planned to include a product testing center, a customer experience center, a conference center and a customer training center, etc., which will create an advanced robot intelligent factory.
