Recently, one of the high-profile robot application products is a product called service robots. Service robots are different from industrial robots used in factories, and they are used in places such as homes and hospitals. The motor that drives it needs to meet the requirements of high torque, thin, compact, and quiet.
The axial motor being developed by Japan Electric Co., Ltd. is different from conventional radial motors in that it can be driven directly without the need for high torque, thin gears, and reduction gears by arranging the magnets and cores up and down.
In order to overcome the problem of vibration and noise caused by high torques, the support structure has been improved, and a structure and control that can reduce the vibration of the motor itself have been adopted. While the structural plane tilts the core to the axial direction, the drive waveform is controlled to reduce torque fluctuations and reduce vibration and noise.
Compared to conventional radial motors, axial motors are characterized by a thinner profile and higher torque. High-torque motors are prone to vibration and noise, but they can be reduced by improving the support structure and the magnetic circuit that controls the motor.
With regard to vibration and noise, it is possible to implement effective measures to reduce vibration and noise by coupling analysis of the composite fields of the motor's fluid, structure, electromagnetic, and acoustic domains.
By analyzing the electromagnetic force acting on the core based on the electromagnetic analysis of the motor, it is possible to observe the vibration of the core propagating to the casing and causing the casing to vibrate. In the case of coupling analysis, it is possible to freely select and combine commercially available analysis software such as fluid, structure, thermal, acoustic, motion, and electromagnetic, by developing a port that connects each analysis software within the company.
Recently, Japan Denco has been participating in the design and delivery of heat dissipation modules consisting of fan motors, cooling fins, and heat pipes in addition to providing customers with individual fan motors, but also guiding the most appropriate design based on the analysis results of air flow and temperature distribution in the housing. In such cases, the company will also develop its own ports to make full use of the technology related to the parsing software.

However, in recent years, the market has demanded small size, high output, high efficiency, high control, high quality, and low cost, which is exactly the opposite of conventional product specifications. Therefore, the design of the propulsion system is necessary in order to realize the optimal configuration of the motor + machinery, and the module as a whole, including sensors and controllers, as well as the unit as a whole.
In order to respond to this demand, Japan Denshoki's design approach is model-based development. Models of the load, machinery, and control circuits when the motor is connected to the motor, and the simulation of these models is carried out to study the rationality of the functions of the modules and units. By establishing a process such as rationalization at the modeling stage and introducing the physical structure, we are promoting the overall optimization of the motor design.
