Shanghai, China, November 22, 2021 – Honeywell's (NASDAQ: HON) MCS-8420 JetWave airborne satellite communication system has recently received a letter of approval from China Satcom Corporation Limited ("China Satcom") to connect to China Satcom's Ka high-throughput satellite network. The system became the world's first Ka satellite communication terminal that passed the complete certification and testing process of China Satcom, and was finally approved.
After receiving the approval letter for the launch of the China Satcom Ka terminal, the Honeywell MCS-8420 JetWave satellite communication system can be installed on a large scale on the certified aircraft. As a result, commercial flights will be significantly more connected and the passenger experience will be greatly enhanced, and the competitiveness and profitability of Chinese airlines in the global aviation market will be further enhanced. Honeywell's MCS-8420 Jetwave satellite communications system is designed to connect to China's Ka-band satellite network and can be deployed in the interconnection solution of China's fleet of airlines. After the installation of the system, the fleet will be able to access high-speed internet, which will not only enable passengers to experience high-speed Wi-Fi at an altitude of 10,000 meters, but also help cabin crews better manage aircraft, reduce fleet fuel costs and avoid aircraft delays.
The Honeywell MCS-8420 Jetwave satellite communication system prototype was first launched in 2018 and unveiled at the first CIIE. In 2019, Honeywell connected aircraft conducted flight and ground tests in China with the JetWave satellite communications system, and the results were good. In August this year, Honeywell's MCS-8420 Jetwave satellite communications system received Supplemental Type Approval (VSTC) for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
