Kunming Changshui International Airport is one of the eight regional hub airports in China and one of the five national large-scale gateway hub airports. With the rapid economic development of Yunnan Province, the aviation business volume of Kunming Airport has grown rapidly, in order to meet the needs of Kunming Airport aviation business development, Kunming Changshui International Airport has carried out a large-scale renovation and expansion, and the new people mover system is one of the important reconstruction and expansion contents.

The Kunming Changshui Airport MRT project has a total track length of 1.89 kilometers, with 3 stations, 1 parking lot and 1 control center, providing seamless connection between the T1 terminal and the long-distance S1 satellite hall. The project is the first MRT system in China to adopt the CBTC (Train Operation Control System Based on Wireless Communication) signaling system. The successful opening of the project will further improve the internal transportation efficiency of Kunming Changshui International Airport and escort the airport to achieve an annual passenger throughput of 120 million passengers.

As the signal system integrator of the project, Hollysys provided the CBTC signal system, including TIAS system (integrated driving automation system), ATP system (automatic train protection system), ATO system (automatic train operation system), CI system (computer interlocking subsystem), integrated maintenance management subsystem, comprehensive training subsystem, etc., to provide users with integrated MRT intelligent control system solutions featuring safety, intelligence, green and diversity. The Kunming Changshui Airport MRT project is the first application project of Hollysys Metro's CBTC signaling products in China, and it is also the first application of Hollysys' independent ATS system and comprehensive monitoring products, which is a milestone. During the implementation of the project, Hollysys independently completed the work from product development, integrated design, manufacturing to installation supervision, interface management, on-site commissioning, etc., providing customers with "one-stop" integration services.

The Kunming Changshui Airport MRT project involves many professional fields, and most of the operation areas are located in the existing operating terminals and transportation channels, which are difficult to design, install and commission, and have high safety risks and high construction standards. Compared with the traditional urban rail, the airport rapid transit system is affected by the concentrated arrival/departure of aircraft brought by weather or control, and is prone to instantaneous passenger flow peaks, which need to be continuous 24 hours a day, and has high requirements for equipment reliability.

Since the start of the project, the project team has always taken safety, quality and progress control as the core of project implementation, and based on standardized and refined management, carefully organized and carefully formulated various plans, and made every effort to build high-quality projects. In the face of difficulties such as the tight construction period, technical difficulty and epidemic interference, the Hollysys project team exerted the spirit of unity and cooperation and a highly responsible attitude, and with the strong support of various departments, completed the design, supply, installation supervision and commissioning work on schedule, obtained the safety assessment certificate at each stage, and achieved the opening goal of "one-time, full-functional, and zero-tail work", which was highly praised by the airport headquarters, general contractor, supervision and design unit.
