On August 30, Sinopec announced that China's largest photovoltaic power generation direct production green hydrogen project, Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project (hereinafter referred to as the Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project), was fully completed and put into operation, marking a breakthrough in the large-scale industrial application of green hydrogen in China. In this project, Hollysys and Sinopec team worked together to develop and innovate, laying a solid foundation for the large-scale and efficient production and utilization of green hydrogen, promoting the deep integration of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and innovative technology, and jointly promoting the high-quality construction of the demonstration and application of the whole national green hydrogen industry chain.
The green hydrogen demonstration project is the first large-scale project in China to directly produce green hydrogen by photovoltaic power generation, with a hydrogen production capacity of 20,000 tons/year by water electrolysis, a hydrogen storage capacity of 210,000 standard cubic meters, and a hydrogen transportation capacity of 28,000 standard cubic meters per hour. The 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen produced annually are supplied to Sinopec Tahe Refining & Chemical Company nearby to replace the natural gas used in oil refining and processing to produce hydrogen. It is estimated that carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by about 485,000 tons per year in the future.

Relying on the abundant solar energy resource endowment in Xinjiang, the project integrates the whole process of green hydrogen production and utilization, including photovoltaic power generation, green power transmission, green electricity hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transportation, and green hydrogen refining. The key to the steady development of green hydrogen plants lies in the rapid response and synchronization of all links in the chain.

Through the simulation and intelligent simulation verification of the whole life cycle, the system meets the automatic and rapid response needs of the project to photovoltaic fluctuations, and optimizes the power strategy, slotting strategy and source-grid-load storage control strategy. According to the situation of on-site process equipment, the whole process of self-perception, self-diagnosis, self-learning, self-optimization, self-adaptation to extreme weather changes and hydrogen consumption changes, to achieve the function of one-key start and stop, fully automatic unmanned operation.
