Precautions when switching the ifm on or off the power supply

The output status of the sensor when the power is turned on or off, whether it is detected or not, is OFF. In particular, when the power supply is turned on, the output condition is OFF for a certain period of time is called the initial reset. However, in the following cases, the output will be instantaneously ON (OFF), and this time is proportional to the length of the sensor's operating distance, which is about 10-100 ms. When connecting a sensor to a counter or programmable controller, there is no problem because the counter or programmable controller has an initial reset circuit inside. In other cases, please take precautions to prevent the following from happening.

                               Precautions when switching the ifm on or off the power supply

The detected object is located in close proximity to the detection distance of the sensor.

In the case of DC voltage and DC switching sensors, the time constant rises (decreases) significantly when the power supply is turned on (off).

AC switching sensors are self-excited and noisy when their power is turned on (off).
