The following preparations need to be made for starting when the motor is put into operation after installation or before it is put back into operation after being shelved for a long time:

(1) Use compressed air to blow off the dust attached to the inside of the motor, and remove the wrapping paper at the windshield for new motors. Check whether the bearing grease is clean and appropriate, and the grease should occupy two-thirds of the bearing chamber.

(2) Wipe the surface of the commutator with a soft, dry and lint-free cloth, and check whether it is smooth and clean, if there is oil stain, you can dip it in gasoline and wipe it off.

(3) Check whether the brush voltage is normal and uniform, whether the fixation of the brush grip is reliable, whether the brush is too tight or too loose in the brush grip, and whether the contact between the brush and the commutator is good.

(4) Check whether there is a mark on the brush rod base with the mark of the brush position.

(5) Turn the armature by hand to check whether it is blocked or whether there is a sound of impact or friction when turning.

(6) Whether the grounding device is good.

(7) Use a 500V megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance of the winding to the casing, if it is less than 1MΩ, it must be dried.

(8) Whether the connection between the motor outlet line and the magnetic field rheostat, starter, etc., is correct, and whether the contact is good.
