The autonomous mobile robot ACTIVE Shuttle has advanced interactive functions that boost intralogistics while increasing safety, efficiency and flexibility. The camera-based 3D obstacle detection system can identify objects in its travel path, thereby improving the obstacle avoidance effect. With the new integrated touchscreen, individual configuration and fast troubleshooting can be done on the mobile robot itself. The updated AMS (ACTIVE Shuttle Management System) control software integrates seamlessly into the shop floor infrastructure and allows individual transport tasks to be performed by configuring task templates.
The ACTIVE Shuttle makes intralogistics more flexible and eliminates the need to modify plant infrastructure. Robust, plug-and-play ACTIVE Shuttle for the automated handling of small trucks up to 260 kg plant-wide.
3D obstacle detection improves safety
The integrated personal protection system complies with the PLd class requirements according to EN ISO 13849-1 and thus allows the ACTIVE Shuttle to move freely around the plant. In addition to safety laser scanners, stereo depth-of-field cameras can also perform three-dimensional probing of the workshop, allowing accurate identification of objects entering its path above or below the scanning surface, allowing the mobile robot to brake and avoid obstacles in time. The improvement of recognition ability not only improves the on-site protection effect, but also enables the system to be used in environments with small spaces, obstacles, or non-standard environments with uncertain workshop area.
Touch screen: real-time interaction on site
The ACTIVE Shuttle is suitable for use in conventional modes of material supply, such as circular transport or consumption-based material supply. With the new touch screen integrated into the vehicle's console, the operator can interact directly and intuitively with the mobile robot, making the system even more efficient. Increased transparency of task and status information also saves time for diagnostics and error correction and simplifies operating procedures.
Mission and fleet management is more flexible and personalized
Thanks to its integrated VDA 5050-compliant communication interface, the ACTIVE Shuttle can be used anywhere. In fact, there are already users who use it in combination with various VDA 5050-compliant management systems in intralogistics. With the ACTIVE Shuttle Management System (AMS), Bosch Rexroth offers a complete set of software for fleet and task management, with increased freedom of application. In addition to simple transport from the reclaim point to the discharge point, users can also create more complex work sequences. For example, the user can define whether to use a reference stroke or other advanced functions. When it comes to communicating with a machine, the ACTIVE Shuttle can send a signal to a specific node, or respond to the relevant signal and move on to the next task.
Shipping tasks to the ACTIVE Shuttle can be performed automatically from higher-level IT systems (MES, ERP, etc.) or manually with a PC or tablet via a web-based user interface. The interface with the workshop infrastructure is also being continuously improved to make the connection between assembly and logistics seamless. Machines, robots, and sensors (e.g. dashboard buttons) can communicate directly with the AMS via various standard interfaces (e.g. to request replenishment in case of material shortage).
