Plastics machine builders have always been pioneers in new drive concepts that continuously improve performance and energy efficiency. For example, it was injection molding machines that were the first to use variable speed drive pump systems on a large scale. For the first time in extruders and blow molding machines, electro-hydraulic composite systems are used for wall thickness control and die opening and closing control.

Today, in order to flexibly meet different requirements, modular, and combinable hydraulic, hybrid and electric drive concepts are widely used in the injection moulding machine industry. At the same time, when it comes to power density and durability, especially when it comes to high performance requirements, hydraulic systems offer clear advantages. Today's hydraulic systems are also becoming more and more connected, flexible and energy-efficient.

As a result, the variable speed drive pump system and self-contained actuators provide energy savings of up to 80 percent for the hydraulic power unit. The 3D printing technology of the hydraulic circuit allows the internal pipe shape to be flexibly designed, so as to optimize the component, reduce the consumption of raw materials, and reduce the pressure loss of the pipeline.

If machine builders need to produce small batches in an economical way, they need drive solutions that can be brought to market flexibly and quickly. During the design phase, online selection and configuration tools as well as pre-configured electromechanical modules significantly reduce design time. For motion time, accuracy, control, and bore design, simulation software can effectively improve design accuracy. The software manual guides the user through the commissioning process quickly, thus reducing machine development and commissioning time.
