For example, in a larger area, multiple or even dozens of heating cables are needed to meet the overall heating demand, and the power is undoubtedly relatively large, so the output matched by the ready-made thermostat is generally 16A: it can be connected to a load below 3000W. Due to the unstable voltage and the relatively large power of most heating equipment, many large areas cannot be controlled by a thermostat. If you want to solve this problem, the fastest thing that comes to mind is to use multiple thermostats to control. However, there are 2 problems with installing multiple thermostats:
First: the cost may be on the high side,
Second: the operation is not convenient (need to operate multiple thermostats),
In order to solve this problem, we usually use a combination of "thermostat + AC contactor" or "thermostat + expansion module" to control this area.
2. How to connect the thermostat with the AC contactor and expansion module?
Connection of thermostat to AC contactor
It is better to control the number of heating cables of the same type with a number of 3, so that the current of the neutral line is close to zero after passing through the busbar. The distribution box must be equipped with circuit breakers, AC contactors (coil voltage 220V), leakage protectors, neutral busbars and grounding bars and other indicators and buttons.
The power supply adopts a AC380V3-phase 5-wire system, and when connecting the heating cable, pay special attention not to connect the heating cable to the phase wire (380V), which will directly cause the heating cable to burn out. Therefore, after the heating cable is connected, it is necessary to use a multimeter to confirm whether each heating cable is connected correctly before it can be powered on and debugged.
Connection of the thermostat to the expansion module
The rated current of the expansion module is 16A, the same as the connection method of the thermostat, No. 1 binding post is connected to the live wire (L), No. 2 is connected to the zero line (N).3, No. 4 is connected to the heating cable, No. 6 and No. 7 are connected to the external sensor, the single expansion module must be combined with the thermostat to achieve the electric floor heating system of the control area, the signal of the expansion module needs to be connected to the thermostat with a wire, and the No. 5 binding post (LX) of the expansion module is connected to the output of the thermostat, and so on.
Notes:
1. The live wire of the expansion module is in phase with the live wire of the thermostat;
2. When the thermostat is connected to the power supply of the expansion module, it cannot be reversed, and when the thermostat is working, the expansion module does not work, and vice versa;
3. The expansion module itself has an external sensor dual-temperature dual-control mode, and the ground temperature limit protection is the same as the thermostat, which can be temperature adjusted. When only one external sensor is installed, be sure to open the protective cover behind the expansion module, and adjust it to turn off the ground temperature limit protection mode according to the manual, so that the expansion module can work normally.
