Traditional sole gluing needs to be done manually, and this process generally has a high temperature and fast toxicity volatilization. However, with the development of Industry 4.0, outdated equipment, rising costs, poor production environment, and shortage of personnel in this type of work have become important reasons for the upgrading and transformation of this process. SICK has developed an intelligent gluing system for shoe soles in collaboration with a 3D laser product and a spraying robot instead of manual labor, enabling the coating process to be completed quickly and with high quality.

  1. Application description

According to customer needs, the system customizes the intelligent equipment for automatic spraying of soles, combines 3D vision with manipulators, and installs them on the sole spraying process equipment.

The soles of different shoe shapes can be scanned by a SICK 3D vision camera to obtain a complete three-dimensional image, which is processed by the automatic path planning system to generate the coordinate information of the robot and guide the robot to evenly spray the sole. The system can follow the tracking operation, replace the traditional manual spraying, and improve the production quality and efficiency.

2. Application difficulties

There are many types of products, complex shoe shapes, and various colors, such as sports shoes, which have high requirements for 3D camera imaging effects;

3. Application selection

Ranger3 and RulerXR 200 with M30 sensors from SICK provide high speed and precision: up to 2560 X pixels and 46 kHz (ROI mode: 128 rows);

The Ranger3 is a split-type camera that can be flexibly matched with different lenses and light sources according to the compatible shoe types of the production line, and can be customized to design customized solutions.

The all-in-one RulerXR 200 is factory-calibrated, making it easy to use and a quick configuration tool for integrators.

For a single production line of solid color soles, the TriSpector series products are optional, which are calibrated at the factory and are more cost-effective.
